Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said that several factors need to be considered before restrictions can be lifted in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
He said the COVID-19 outbreak in the country is “under control,” which is the most important factor.
“Preparation for contact tracing is also important,” the minister said, adding that the government will make use of artificial intelligence (AI). “By controlling the spread and also preparing the AI, this will further strengthen Brunei’s preparation should there be a second wave,” he said.
The minister also underlined the need for public awareness if the restrictions are lifted, noting that social distancing must continue to be carried out, and for high-risk individuals to stay at home and wear face masks.
“Another important matter is the opening of schools, and this is still under review,” he said.
