Maktab Sains Alumni donated folding beds, washing machines and vacuum cleaners to the Youth Volunteer Operations Centre for COVID-19, based at the Community Development Department (JAPEM)’s Pusat Bahagia yesterday.

Assistant Head Officer of Youth at the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports Dr Muhammad Nuriskandar bin Mohd Hasnan received the donated items from Masrhiem Taufiq, Azizil Brahim, Azmirul Abdul Rahman, Zihan Saifudin bin Haji Mohd Saneh, Mohd Don bin Amat Daniel and Mohd Helmi Maharito.

Masrhiem Taufiq told the Weekend Bulletin, “We got the idea from our alumni. With so many volunteers sacrificing their time and efforts, we thought this would make things more comfortable for them.”

Dr Muhammad Nuriskandar said, “This demonstrates the public’s support for the initiatives carried out by our youth, and we are so grateful. This should help to motivate our youth to continue their efforts in curbing the COVID-19 pandemic in Brunei Darussalam.”

Over 900 registered as volunteers at Pusat Bahagia.

Dr Muhammad Nuriskandar urged more local youth to be involved.

“We need to address the COVID-19 situation through a whole-of-nation approach. Each of us plays a role,” he said.
