COVID-19 updates: No new cases today; 2 recoveries; 3 relapsed cases


Highlights from today’s press conference 

Here are highlights from today’s press conference at the Ministry of Health (MoH) with the Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Jaafar.

The Minister of Health announced
no new COVID-19 cases in Brunei today. The national tally stands at 138.

Two more patients have been discharged today, bringing the total recoveries to 119. There are currently 18 active cases being treated at the National Isolation Centre (NIC) in Tutong.

  • Two patients remain in critical condition, requiring ventilator support. The rest of the patients are in a stable condition.
  • As of today, 138 individuals are undergoing quarantine according to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and a total of 2425 have completed the quarantine period and are in good health.
  • Since the emergence of COVID-19 in early January 2020, a total of 12,430 laboratory tests for COVID-19 have been conducted.


Three new relapse cases

The Minister of Health informed that three more discharged COVID-19 patients have been found to be positive with the virus again after follow-up examination. This brings the total number of such cases as of today to 21 individuals, of which 14 individuals are still undergoing further examinations.

MoH updates Guideline for Mass Gathering
The Minister of Health today announced an update on the Guideline for Mass Gathering. The guideline provides guidance on events that are permitted and not permitted as well as the precautionary measures that should be taken by the public.
The guidelines include advisories for events such as personal and family events, wedding registrations and solemnization, meetings, conferences, training courses and job interviews as well as recreational activities in the open area.
