COVID-19: One new case, 7 more recoveries

One new case today, 7 more recoveries

The Minister of Health announced the emergence of one new COVID-19 case in Brunei today, following five consecutive days of no new cases. This brings the national tally to 136.

Case 136 is a local male, 28, who studied in Indonesia and went on board Malaysia Airlines MH0872 (seated at 3A) to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on  April 7 and he went back to Brunei on board Royal Brunei BI874 (seated at 36D) on April 8. He does not have any symptoms of infection.

  • A further 7 patients at the National Isolation Centre (NIC) in Tutong were discharged, bringing total number of people recovered to 99. There are now 36 active cases.
  • Two patients remain in critical condition, requiring ventilator support. The rest of the patients are in a stable condition.
  • As of today, 74 individuals are still undergoing quarantine according to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and a total of 2308 have completed the quarantine period and are in good health.
  • Since the emergence of COVID-19 in early January 2020, a total of 9342 laboratory tests for COVID-19 have been conducted.
