The COVID-19 outbreak will be theoretically under control if there are no new cases for 28 days to one month.
“In theory, if there is no infection, we have to wait for at least 28 days or one month to declare COVID-19 outbreak under control,” said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar yesterday.
“We have to wait and see whether we are successful,” the minister added.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham also said, every measure such as travel ban, social distancing, prohibiting mass gathering and self-isolation is equally important in flattening the curve of COVID-19 in the country.
However, what is more important is the whole of nation approach in measures and steps to curb the outbreak and cooperation of the public.
“In other countries with renowned experts, people don’t listen to what their leaders said for reducing COVID-19. Examples of these can be seen in Europe. It needs a whole of government and a whole of nation approach.
“We should be thankful to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the public for their contributions to curb COVID-19 outbreak,” the minister said.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham on Wednesday said Brunei Darussalam’s graph is a smooth curve and not an acute slope compared to some European countries but reminded the public not to be complacent. In comparison with neighbouring countries in the region, Brunei Darussalam’s curve is flat.
Graph and statistics gained from Health Info Brunei, an artificial intelligence (AI) app, demonstrate the Brunei government’s ongoing efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 in the country. The web-based app also enables the Ministry of Health (MoH) to view Brunei Darussalam’s situation, both regionally and globally.
