The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), through its Municipal Departments and District Offices, has been carrying out cleaning campaigns at markets nationwide since April 15 in bid to contain the spread of COVID-19, as advised by the Ministry of Health (MoH).
In the Temburong District, the campaign took place at the market in Bangar in the presence of Acting Temburong District Officer Mohd Khairul Shahrul bin Haji Duahim as well as other officials from the district office.
The campaign was also joined by personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Fire and Rescue Department, the National Disaster Management Centre and the Public Works Department as well as volunteers from the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association, the National Service Programme (PKBN) and other youth groups.
According to Mohd Khairul Shahrul, the initiative was made possible with the collective efforts from all parties, and he hoped that members of the public will continue to prioritise cleanliness amid the outbreak in line with the preventive measures implemented by the MoH.
A similar campaign was held at Tamuneka Sungai Bera in Seria, Belait District, led by Assistant Belait District Officer Mohammad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed, joined by personnel from the Public Works Department and the Fire and Rescue Department. The district office hoped it would lead to a shift in mindset regarding waste and personal hygiene.
