Over 2,000 cans and bottles of alcohol of several brands were seized when an attempt to smuggle contraband into the country through a mouse trail at Kuala Lurah was foiled by members of the Special Operation Unit of the Company ‘C’ Police Reserve Unit under the Royal Brunei Police Force yesterday.

“Police personnel found the contraband scattered among the bushes,” Assistant Commanding Officer of Company C Police Reserve Unit ASP Azhan bin Anuar said.

A suspect in the area was detained by police personnel. Initial investigations revealed that the suspect is a local named Ehirul bin Akob, 41, believed to be involved in smuggling liquor into the country.

The suspect and the contraband were brought to the Limau Manis Police Station for investigation. Royal Customs and Excise Department personnel are conducting further investigations.
