A new season of high-octane action

The third season of critically acclaimed first person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, bringing a suite of content across multiplayer modes and the widely spoken Warzone.

To get the most of this high-octane new season, players can pick up the reloaded Battle Pass.

For those who are not familiar with the seasonal in-game Battle Pass, it is a rewarding gameplay-based system with over 100 items available to unlock by playing and grinding through the game. It is packed from beginning to end with the very latest and greatest operators, weapons and gear.

The Battle Pass system is available to all players. It features free tiers, such as the ‘SKS’ marksman rifle and the ‘Renetti’ handgun – both of which are new weapons introduced in this season.

The Renetti handgun is a balanced semi-auto pistol which includes a three-round burst attachment and is deadly in close-range combat while the SKS is a lightweight, semi-auto chambered marksman rifle that is extremely agile and boasts a faster fire rate than any other weapon in this class.

Only those who purchase the Battle Pass or Battle Pass Bundle (includes 20 tier skips) can access the 100 unlockable tiers.

Those who do not own the Battle Pass can still unlock some content at free tiers by playing and there are plenty of free rewards to go around. Players can unlock epic items like Call of Duty Points, XP Tokens, and the two new weapons mentioned earlier.

As soon as the Battle Pass for Season 3 is purchased, players will unlock the central protagonist from the Modern Warfare Campaign, Alex codename Echo 3-1.

This operator is decked head-to-toe in a tactical getup complete with gloves and goggles in addition to having battle wounds. You can unlock ‘Hard Wired’ Alex to play as him in Multiplayer, Special Ops and Warzone.

To see the dramatic and gripping events leading Alex to this point, players need to complete the Campaign mode and discover the story behind this war-torn Warcom fighter.

Hardcore Call of Duty fans can now relive one of Call of Duty 4’s most popular maps – Talsik Backlot – as well as play in new maps such as Hovec Sawmill and Aniyah Incursion.

These maps are available in any of the game’s multiplayer game modes, and have been added to the matchmaking pool.

Later on in the season, the game’s developer is expected to add another map called Hardhat, which players first travelled during 2009’s Modern Warfare 3.

Squads have finally landed in Warzone’s Battle Royale and Plunder modes, allowing teams of four players to fight to be the last group standing in Verdans.

According to Infinity Ward’s Season 3 road map, there will be a “continuous overhaul” to Warzone’s pool of ground loot to keep strategies fresh for regular players, while there will also be new modes like ‘Scopes and Scatter Guns’ as well as more surprises. While the developers did not elaborate on the description of this mode, netizens are expecting something a lot like a sniper and shotgun-only mode.

Hardcore Call of Duty players can rest assured that there will be new multiplayer modes, another new map, new weapons, and a few extra additions to the first-person shooter game as the season progresses.

Meanwhile, Infinity Ward recently launched a remastered version of the thrilling campaign from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Playstation 4.

Xbox One players will get their chance to enjoy the revitalised campaign in less than a month on April 30.

The original game was launched in 2009 and this remastered version will be a welcome arrival for millions of people stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans of the game can play some ‘throwback’ missions with new improved graphics and audio.
