‘Oversharenting,’ a video produced by Nurul Rina Haryantie binti Abdullah, highlighting the dangers of oversharenting, a habit whereby parents share too much information about their children on social media, won the first prize in a recent competition.
The competition for students was organised by Information Technology Protective Security Services Sdn Bhd (ITPSS) in its role as Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT), along with the Creative Computing Programme Area of Universiti Technologi Brunei (UTB) to promote cybersecurity awareness.
In second place was Mohamad Haziq Wa’ie bin Husaini with his video on ‘Technoference,’ a term used to describe a distraction caused by technological devices during any interpersonal communication.
Out of 10 submissions, two winners were chosen based on creativity, quality of video and most importantly, clarity of the message related to cybersecurity and online safety issues.
The winners were rewarded with cash prizes and cinema tickets, while their videos will be showcased by BruCERT in local television advertising, cinema advertising and displayed on BruCERT’s social media accounts.
ITPSS Chief Information Officer Azman Iskandar bin Ariffin awarded the prizes in the presence of Programme Leader of UTB’s Creative Computing Programme Area Haji ldham Maswadi bin Haji Mashud and UTB lecturers.
BruCERT is a national referral agency dealing with computer- and Internet-related security in Brunei. It engages in public awareness initiatives, highlighting online threats and cyber safety, as well as dispenses advise on securing personal information.
