Collection from the COVID-19 Relief Fund has reached BND1,260,000, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah said at the press conference yesterday.
The minister said the funds will be used to buy items needed by the frontliners and staff at the Ministry of Health (MoH). “We would like to express our gratitude for the contributions in extending assistance to those who need help.”
Last week, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented for the government to open the COVID-19 Relief Fund for the public to make contributions.
Some in-kind donations have been received from companies which helped the government and the MoH to deliver goods to quarantine centres for daily needs and frontliners at these centres. Companies and the public can make donations via online transfers directly to the COVID-19 Relief Fund’s account number 1010070123 with Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD).
The Ministry of Finance and Economy through the Treasury Department will control and withdraw the funds upon approval from the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II as well as from the Minister of Health.
