Some 890 Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS) students participated in the Kenali ASEAN roadshow organised by the Information Department of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) at the college multipurpose hall recently.

It was organised through the International Affairs Unit as the Secretariat for the Sub-Committee on Information (SCI) of the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI) as part of the effort of the Information Department in instilling the spirit of patriotism and ASEAN identity in the students.

Principal of MSPSBS Susilawati binti Dato Paduka Haji Muhammad, teachers and staff of the college were present.

The roadshow began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and the singing of the national anthem followed by the singing of the ASEAN theme song The ASEAN Way. Acting Information Officer and Head of International Affairs Unit of the Information Department Hajah Noorhijrah gave a talk on Kenali ASEAN.

A video clip on ASEAN was screened and quizzes by Assistant Field Information Officer Nur-Effa Ryina binti Pengiran Haji Hamdani were held.

A prize presentation was also held for winners of a quiz competition. The roadshow also promoted the ‘We ASEAN’ application which contains information on ASEAN and ASEAN member states, ASEAN calendar, quizzes, photo and video gallery which can be downloaded in Google Play for Android users and App Store for iOS users.

One of the objectives of the briefing was to increase students’ knowledge on ASEAN and to find out how much the students know about ASEAN as well as its role in developing its member states.

It is hoped that such briefings will instil awareness and a sense of belonging among students as one ASEAN community, in line the ASEAN Motto: One Vision, One Identity, One Community.
