The National Anti-Drug Association (BASMIDA) held an Anti-Drug Quiz at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School’s lobby
The event, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), was part of the anti-drug association’s Preventive Drug Education (PDE) activity.
The event saw participation of the granddaughter of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Raihaanah Hanaa-Ul Bolqiah binti Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil.
Granddaughter of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, Pengiran Anak Adriana Haziqah Jaida Bulqiah binti Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul ‘Ali Yil-Kabier and granddaughter of Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pengiran Nur Aabidah Syifa binti Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammed Al-Mokhtar also participated.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Dr Haji Samsul Muawan bin Haji Shodiq followed by a remark by President of BASMIDA Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali. She said the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports has allocated BND2,300 to BASMIDA to conduct three PDE activities with students to provide information on controlled drugs and raise awareness on drug addiction.
She said anti-drug campaigns conducted by BASMIDA are done through an Islamic approach, in line with the aim towards a Zikir Nation.
The president said the approach will instil Islamic values that can prevent an individual from falling into prohibited immoral activities such as the misuse of controlled drugs.
Prizes were given to winners of the quiz competition.
