Students and teachers of Belait Arabic School (SAB) were dressed in costumes based on their favourite characters from books as the school conducted an English, Mathematics and Science (EMS)-ing Day Activity at the school compound yesterday.

Held by the English, Mathematics and Science Departments, the EMS-ing Day was conducted to help students focus their attention towards the three subjects, while stressing on English.

This was held in conjunction with World Book Day where the importance of reading is highlighted and the event serves to equip children with books on know-ledge and stories to help them expand and develop their reading and comprehension skills.

Belait Arabic School Headmistress Hajah Noramalina binti Haji Md Ali encouraged the students dressed as their favourite characters to make full use of the occasion to develop their reading skills.

She noted that in the midst of the technological advancement and Industrial Revolution 4.0, it is easy to access books across the Internet through various means.

She hoped the activities will help spur the students’ creativity, as well as instill a culture of cooperation in achieving the goal of honing their skills, especially reading.

Activities included a one-hour reading period, Book parade, EMS-ing Race, an exhibition titled ‘Success Story’, as well as a sharing session with Biology teacher at Tanjong Maya Secondary School, Tutong Hajah Nur Hamizah binti Haji Samihon.
