A 25-year-old man stranded on Bukit Sipatir in Kampong Subok was successfully rescued, according to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).

Responding to a report of a stranded hiker at 6.17pm last Saturday, the FRD dispatched two teams from the Bandar Seri Begawan and Rimba fire stations, together with a Special Squad led by Acting ASO Noor Erawan.

On arriving at the scene, the rescuers searched for 30 minutes, before locating the victim in the Bukit Bayu area at 6.55pm, about 3km away from the car park.

In 2019, the FRD received 10 reports on lost or stranded hikers. This year, four such cases were recorded from January to February.

The most common areas for hikers requiring rescue were the Tasek Lama Recreational Park, Bukit Shahbandar and Bukit Sipatir.
