Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) in Kiulap recently hosted the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2020 roadshow, with the aim of promoting the ICT competition among secondary school students.
The one-day event featured a presentation by BICTA 2020 Secretariat Md Jamil bin Haji Abdul Jalil, who gave insights on the activities lined up for the participants.
He pointed out that the participants would be given the opportunity to develop market-ready products, as well as increase business knowledge and skills.
“The facilitators and trainers for BICTA have been carefully selected from diverse areas of industry, to give a more holistic view on how to improve products from the ideation and validation stage to realisation and ultimately commercialisation,” he added.
Pengiran Sarimah binti Pengiran Haji Abdul Latiff, one of the Chief Judges of BICTA 2020, disclosed that the judging criteria are in line with the standards in the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards, and provided a few tips on what judges would want to assess when the participants pitch their products.
The roadshow concluded with a question-and-answer session with 20 students from Nusa Laila Puteri School and St Margaret’s School.
The annual event organised jointly by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC), Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB), BICTA 2020 is also supported by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and DARe (Darussalam Enterprise).
