Six people received new houses under the Housing Aid Construction Project, during a handover ceremony in the Tutong District yesterday.
The recipients were Md Mashuarat bin Abdullah Bungo, Haji Yusof bin Haji Tuah, Metussin bin Abdullah, Enny Kartini binti Masail, Raheemah binti Abdullah and Rohana binti Amas.
The plaques and certificates of completion for the new houses were presented by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar; and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
The Housing Aid Construction Project is a joint venture among four ministries and fully funded by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, with the Prime Minister’s Office functioning as the Project Coordinator.
The project is managed by the Department of Technical Services from the Public Works Department under the Ministry of Development.
The housing is divided into two types: bungalows and single-storey houses, which are each fitted with three bedrooms, a living-room, a kitchen, one bathroom and one toilet.
Funding for the construction of these houses was provided by the MUIB Asnaf Fakir Miskin Zakat Fund, amounting BND401,804.38.
The six houses are part of a BND1,977,283.60 project carried out by Noracon Sdn Bhd, with 13 houses in the Brunei-Muara District, 13 houses in the Tutong District and one in the Belait District.
Construction work for the housing aid project commenced on October 25, 2018, with the target date of completion set for April 25, 2020.
Also present during yesterday’s handover ceremony were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, in his capacity as the Deputy President of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB); Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Penghulu of Mukim Tanjong Maya Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong; LegCo member and Penghulu of Mukim Telisai Yang Berhormat Ramli bin Haji Lahit; Permanent Secretary (Law and Welfare) at the Prime Minister’s Office Haji Mohammed Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang; and Acting Secretary of MUIB Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop.
