Members of the public can now register for the 4th Reintegration Run set to be held at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien on June 21. The run is a show of support for former inmates’ reintegration into the community.

The Prisons Department and its partners are organising the run under the theme ‘Unity 2020.’ The organising committee hopes former inmates and stakeholders can work together and help each other so the Rakan Seliaan (former inmate) programme can be achieved as a whole.

The previous three runs were a success, attracting strong public participation. It is hoped the run will help raise public awareness on the importance of the reintergration programme and its roles.

The programme – which includes religious matters, entrepreneurship incubator, skills training courses and volunteering – contributes towards harmony and the welfare of the community. The run also hopes to raise funds for the programme.

Registration for the Reintegration Run was officially launched at The Airport Mall by Senior Prisons Counsellor and Prison Reintegration Head Pengiran Omar bin Pengiran Haji Othman handing over the 4th Reintegration Run posters to representatives from various government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the private sector. Members of the public can join the 11km open category as well as the 11km veteran category. The first place winner will walk away with BND500, second place BND300 and third place BND200. Consolation prizes of BND50 will be given to fourth to eight places winners.

Registration fee for the open and veteran categories are set at BND35. Participants will receive a T-shirt, Bib and Buff, as well as a Hijab.

There will also be a 5km Fun Run category, with registration fee set at BND20. Participants will receive a T-shirt with Buff and a Hijab.

The closing date for registration is May 31.
