All Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) flights are cleaned and sanitised comprehensively such as the cabins, tables, seats and inflight entertainment screens, while all headsets, pillows and blankets either used or unused will be removed after every flight.
This was stated by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah in response to a query on concerns on pilots and cabin crew and why they are not quarantined.
“RB flights are also equipped with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) similar to what is used at an operating theatre. Cabin air will be refreshed every minute to ensure it is sterile and particle-free. RB also uses disposable cutlery,” the minister said.
On action taken by RB in curbing COVID-19 from spreading, Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew said RB has activated its Standard Operating Procedure for every staff (such as pilot, cabin crew, ground staff and engineers) to reduce risks to the individual or Royal Brunei Airlines guests.
“If there is a positive COVID-19 case in the flight, the pilot and cabin crew working during that period will undergo swab tests,” the minister said.
“Alhamdulillah, to date, no crew has been infected by COVID-19, whereby 37 staff members have undergone swab tests, out of which 31 tested negative and six others freed from self-isolation as instructed by the Ministry of Health.
“This is because of the steps taken by RB towards the crew like wearing masks, gloves (if needed), maintaining self-cleanliness, taking body temperature before and after flights, briefings by pilots before departure and not visiting public places while overseas and so on,” the minister added.
RB will abide by the Ministry of Health orders such as maintaining self-cleanliness and ensuring that pilot and cabin crew undergo quarantine if instructed by the authorities.
