The Mawar Association through its Education and Development Bureau organised a sharing session titled ‘Recognising Domestic Violence’ to increase awareness among the public, especially women.
The sharing session was held at Café 934 in Serusop and presented by an invited speaker, Community Development Officer from the Community Development Department (JAPEM) of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Nurul Nazurah binti Jaya.
The event aimed to provide exposure to women on the ways to recognise domestic violence such as the five types of abuse, laws that have been issued by the court and the steps that can be taken.
Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions from Nurul Nazurah.
The Mawar Association gave participants the opportunity to share their own experiences and share advice.
Advisor of the Mawar Association Associate Professor Dr Hajah Rose binti Abdullah, President Hajah Kamlah binti Haji Daud and association members were also present.
The Mawar Association continues its efforts in organising more programmes to create awareness and understanding on various aspects spanning from health, social and economy, as well as family education, in line with the objective of its establishment.
