Pusat Ehsan charity golf tournament starts March 27

The 20th Pusat Ehsan Charity Golf Tournament 2020 will be held at Pantai Mentiri Golf Club from March 27-29.

This was announced at a press conference chaired by Acting Chairman of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Board of Trustees Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin bin Haji Abdul Wahab and Seruji bin Haji Setia at the Pantai Mentiri Golf Club.

Seruji bin Haji Setia said, “The tournament will be played on system 36 (stroke play). Among the prize list is best overall gross where only the best 12 golfers qualify for the gross event and they have to play in the first two days.”

Others include Nett, Division A (Handicap 0-9), Division B (Handicap 10-18), Division C (Handicap 19-24), Senior Golfer Category, Best Gross for ladies and three Best Nett for ladies as well as VIP/Sponsor Category.

Novelty prizes like nearest to the pin, nearest to the line, longest drive, most eagles and most birdies as well as hole-in-one prize of BND5,000 for hole number seven and hole number nine are also available.

The tournament will feature the Patron’s Challenge Trophy. The registration fee is BND100 for the first game and the second and third game are BND80 per game. Breakfast, lunch and buggy will be provided.

Entry forms are available at the Pantai Mentiri Golf Club from today until the tournament date. There are five sessions of play for the three-day tournament.

Seruji said, “I would like to invite golfers in Brunei Darussalam and neighbouring countries to participate in the tournament.”

Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin highlighted the importance of fundraising for the centre. He said, “Pusat Ehsan, a non-government and non-profit charity organisation, is run professionally in compliance with rules and corporate governance without charging our wards. Our funding is derived from donations and contributions from the community.”

He added, “The tournament is part of the centre’s public awareness campaign. We welcome the public to come and witness our operation in Pusat Ehsan.”

This year’s tournament, themed ‘Perpetual Care’, encapsulates the dedication for the development of more than 250 people under the care of Pusat Ehsan. Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin said, “We have educational, training programmes and rehabilitation in Pusat Ehsan.”

On concerns of the COVID-19, Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin said, “At present, Alhamdulillah there is no case of COVID-19 in the country so we are not worried about the virus. We believe it is still safe to host the tournament.”

In last year’s tournament, Pusat Ehsan raised BND20,000.
