Projects to boost Temburong tourism

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah said through the Temburong District Development Authority, Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) is actively involved in identifying projects that can further enhance the status of Temburong District as the ‘Green Jewel’, which include tourism projects that conserve environment and use of low carbon technology with the involvement of domestic and foreign investors.

Apart from these, other projects actively implemented in Temburong District are expected to build economic opportunities in the district with the opening of Temburong bridge. The upgrading and beautifying project of Pekan Bangar is one of the major projects being implemented with the purpose of not only to reinforce the Pekan Bangar as a tourist attraction but also to make it a commercial centre for local traders.

DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) or also plays a part in expanding the entrepreneurship programme, specifically for traders and entrepreneurs in Temburong to help educate and improve their business knowledge and skills, like providing basic book keeping training and financial management.

DARe is also implementing a structured programme aimed to raise standards of business services and capabilities related to tourism such as lodging, restaurants, food and beverage products that help improve those products.
