Prizes for religious competition winners

Students of Al-Quran and Muqaddam classes at Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Wakeel Mosque in Kampong Kiudang, Tutong emerged as champions in the Al-Quran in Murattal (reciting Al-Quran in melodic tone of voice) Reading Competition (male category), while students from Kampong Tanah Jambu Mosque were victorious in the competition’s female category.

Eighteen teams competed in the event, held to mark the 36th National Day celebration. The competition was organised by the Mosque Affairs Department and Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque.

Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque in Kampong Rimba and RPN Bukit Beruang Mosque grabbed the second and third spots in the male category, while Kampong Kasat Mosque came in second and Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Wakeel Mosque in third for the female category.

Acting Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri awarded prizes to the winners at the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Jerudong yesterday. The competition aimed to produce children who can read Al-Quran perfectly, glorify mosque as a centre to propagate Islamic teachings, forge closer ties among participants, unearth participants’ hidden talents and encourage more children to engage in religious activities at mosques.
