Following the viral message that has been circulating across social media on the closure of Sungai Tujoh Immigration Control Post, the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) has released an official statement debunking the fake news.

The Sungai Tujoh Control Post and others across the nation are still operating as usual.

The INRD advises the public to not disseminate any false information, and to not speculate on information that are not authenticated by official sources. Failure to do so is an offence under Section 34, Chapter 148 of the Public Order Act.

Under the act, any individual or group discovered to fake information, whether verbally, in writing or in any other way; with the intent of spreading falsehood or to make false statements that may cause fear among the public is susceptible to a fine of BND3,000, or up to three years of imprisonment.

Members of the public who wish to get more information can contact the INRD through 2382431 or 2381107 during office hours, or email at [email protected]
