The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced that the National Virology Reference Laboratory under the Department of Laboratory Services will begin operating from tomorrow.

This was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at a press conference yesterday.

The minister added that the project was in cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Development. The project construction began on March 17 and was handled by local contractor, LSL Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Beijing Genomic Institution (BGI).

The additional laboratory would help increase the capacity and speed up the COVID-19 test processes in the country.
