“This year’s National Day theme Menjayakan Wawasan Negara is not only a statement, but a call for the people, especially youth, to be aware of the Brunei Vision 2035, the commitment in making the country known for its highly skilled and educated people, with high-standards of living,” said Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
“Brunei Vision 2035 is the first of three components in a long-term planned implemented by the government over a period of 30 years which started in 2007. The other two components are Development Policy Framework and Strategic Plan and the National Development Plan (RKN),” he said.
The minister made these remarks as the guest of honour at the Youth Islamic Leadership Convention 2020 in conjunction with Brunei Darussalam’s 36th National Day which concluded with a closing ceremony at the International Convention Centre yesterday.
The minister underlined that the convention is part of the annual special programme organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
He added, “In realising the objective of the government, the government has planned long-term strategies through the whole of nation approach, and through this context, it is important that the youth initiative programmes are carried out with attractive formats.”
The minister believed that the convention can help achieve Brunei Vision 2035 by raising awareness and strengthening the desire in achieving it.
The two-day convention saw the participation of youth associations under the MoRA, Religious Council of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (MABIMS) member countries, as well as higher education institutions and the public.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof and senior officials from the MoRA were also present.
The Youth Islamic Leadership Convention is co-organised by MoRA and Youth Religious Programme.
