Minister shares Public Service Commission’s initiatives

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud said yesterday a number of initiatives are being implemented to review the existing Public Service Scheme to keep up with the changes of time.

The minister was responding to deliberations on the third day of the 16th Legislative Council (LegCo) session.

LegCo member Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Haji Sabtu raised the issue regarding the Public Service Scheme, approaches and initiatives taken by the Public Service Commission.

The minister added that the initiatives include updating the service scheme to provide career growth opportunity for Open Vote staff and absorb them into permanent related scheme by taking into account their experience, duration of services and academic qualification.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti also said the initiatives are also implemented for the job titles for posts in Divisions IIV and V where the staff have similar roles and responsibilities, yet different salary scale.

He added that the initiatives also include updating the terms and qualifications in the public service scheme for posts in Division I, creating a service scheme that takes into account qualification or salary scale that is relevant for the appropriate position.

The minister also said ministries and departments shall be responsible in providing a model competency for various positions.
