Malaysian sisters jailed for immigration offences

The Magistrate’s Court yesterday handed jail sentences and fines to a pair of Malaysian sisters for immigration offences.

Magistrate Mohammad Marzuqi bin Sabtu heard from Immigration prosecutor Adi Yusra Adanan that Noorazian Mazwan binti Abdul Wahab, 32, and Noorizyan Yumni binti Abdul Wahab, 34, entered Brunei without passports.

The court sentenced Noorazian Mazwan to a year and six months’ jail while Noorizyan got a year and four months’ jail.

The court further heard that they were arrested during a raid on two different houses in Kampong Ayer on March 2, 2020. Noorazian Mazwan was arrested at a house on Kampong Saba Darat ‘B’ and found to have entered Brunei illegally on February 25, 2020 from Limbang by boat.

She was found to have been barred from entering Brunei for a previous immigration offence.

Noorizyan Yumni was arrested from a house at Kampong Burong Pingai Ayer and found to have entered Brunei illegally on February 28, 2020 from Limbang through Pandam, Lumapas.

She was also found to have been barred from entering Brunei for a previous theft offence.
