International Women’s Club of Brunei (IWCB) members joined their counterparts the world over in marking International Women’s Day yesterday, with a clean-up of Muara Beach.

The event was officiated by IWCB President Ungku Datin Hajah Fanzah binti Haji Osman, together with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong; IWCB Honorary Vice President Xanthe Lindsay, who is also the spouse of the British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam; and Pham Thi Minh Diep, the spouse of the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Brunei Darussalam.

The International Women’s Day 2020 event was attended by the club’s honorary members from various embassies and high commissions in Brunei Darussalam as well as club members and their families and friends.

The event concluded with breakfast. Each attendee was given a special International Women’s Day IWCB recycle bag.

The club thanked all attendees, Big BWN Project and Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) for their support.

International Women Day is an event marked every March 8 to celebrate the social economic, cultural and political achievements and contributions of women. This year’s global theme is Each for Equal.

IWCB celebrates International Women’s Day every year to promote and create awareness on women issues and foster friendship among members from both the local and expatriate community.
