The Singapore Premier League (SPL) match between DPMM FC and Abirex Niigata (S) has been postponed to a later date amid growing concerns of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), according to a club statement released yesterday.

The Gegar Gegar men have been scheduled to play the White Swans tonight at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas for their second home game of the season.

“On behalf of DPMM FC, it is with much regret that we have to inform that our match against Albirex Niigata (S) in the Singapore Premier League, which is scheduled to be played on 14 March 2020 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium has been postponed to a later date,” the statement reads.

It added, “After much deliberation, in the light of the current situation of COVID-19 in Brunei Darussalam, we regret that postponement has to be implemented.”

The club have also notified the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) on the postponement with the association set to review all options before announcing the new date on the fixture.

The Brunei-based outfit have started the season on a positive note after an impressive 2-0 win against traditional title contenders Tampines Rovers FC on March 6.

Meanwhile, the rest of the fixtures in the third week of the Singapore Premier League will carry on as normal.

This weekend will see Young Lions and Balestier Khalsa taking on each other with Tanjong Pagar United playing against Tampines Rovers FC and Hougang United meeting Geylang International FC.
