Dozens of participants attended a sign language workshop at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday, as part of activities carried out under the Brunei Book Fair 2020.
Dr Hajah Norbayah binti Haji Shahminan and her team facilitated the workshop.
Participants learnt the basic sign language for numbers and alphabets, as well as basic daily communication skills. The workshop highlights to the new generation the importance of sign language in assisting the hearing-impaired minority.
At the same time, its use is important for families to communicate and interact with stroke victims.
The sign language workshop is open to the public from 8am to noon and 2pm to 4.30pm, with its last day being on March 7.
