Even with a small population, the spirit of giving prevails in Brunei, and this is evident in the recent announcement made by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah on the collection of over BND1 million for the COVID-19 Relief Fund after only a short number of days.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar explained during a press conference yesterday that the funds will be used primarily to purchase equipment for the upcoming hospital.

“As of now, we have yet to determine the cost,” the minister said, adding that it will be determined in the coming days.

Although the amount collected may not be sufficient, the minister said, it should bring a sense of pride that the contribution is able to help the government.
