“Community spread of COVID-19 is defined as when someone gets infected without knowing the source, including those not related to patients or close contacts,” said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at a press conference yesterday.

He clarified that the ongoing situation of the pandemic in the country is still under control as the COVID-19 cases are detected in those having close contact with the infected patients.

The minister added that if ‘community spread’ happens, it needs to be tackled by checking the spread.

“The principle is still going back to the basic of identifying, isolating and contact tracing, and to run a lot of tests,” he said.
