Corruption, effects dissected

The Labour Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) in cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) held a workshop on Anti-Corruption and Integrity at the Labour Department Headquarters on Friday.

Sixty officers and staff from the Foreign Worker Recruitment Division, Law Enforcement Division and the Temburong District Labour Office participated.

Acting Labour Commissioner Muhammad Saufi bin Haji Ibrahim as well as Deputy Labour Commissioner and workshop chairman Zulhilmi bin Haji Abidin also attended.

The workshop, a continuation to an earlier held briefing, was divided into a morning and afternoon session.

The workshop aimed to identify issues of corruption and weaknesses of governance that may arise in carrying out departmental activities.

It is also one of the steps towards strengthening good governance, which can combat corruption, abuse of power and mismanagement in an organisation.

Participants were exposed to knowledge on the nature of corruption and its prevention, the effects of corruption and the strengthening of integrity among civil servants.

The workshop was co-presented by Chief Special Investigator Pengiran Hajah Norutama binti Pengiran Haji Hassan and Senior Special Investigator Haji Muhammad Hisham bin Haji Sulaiman from the Public Relations Division, Education and Integrity, Anti-Corruption Bureau.
