Azza Zainal shot to victory in the junior (under-18) category of a golf tournament hosted by Jerudong International School (JIS) after carding a score of 74 nett at the Royal Brunei Recreational Golf Club in Berakas recently.
Ferry Greiner proved to be his nearest challenger and ran him close with the same score but lost on count back (OCB).
Meanwhile, Tom Clarke with his score of 70 clinched the male adult category title while Rosementa Nordin emerged winner in the female adult category with a score of 76.
The inaugural competition, which aimed to encourage juniors to play golf, attracted 27 golfers from the JIS community with students having the opportunity to play alongside a family member.
The longest drive went to Ruard Koekemoer while there was also a nearest to the line competition on the 11th hole as part of the novelty prizes.
At JIS, golf is available as an option in the range of the after-school CCA programme weekly and currently has 25 students and teachers who play every week.
Tournament organiser Mahesh Chauhan expressed gratitude to the prize sponsors of the tournament, Radisson Hotel and Aewon.
