The Ministry of Health (MoH) successfully tracked a COVID-19 case through the artificial intelligence (AI) powered web application www.healthinfo.gov.bn self-assessment tool.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar revealed that the patient is a student who came back prior to the ministry’s announcement of the mandatory self-isolation for those returning from overseas.

“She has been isolating at home as her family has the appropriate facilities. Unfortunately, towards the end of her self-isolation she developed symptoms. She used the web app and answered all the questions,” said the minister.

From these questions, the minister added that the computer generated the patient’s risk which notified her for a check-up in a hospital.

The minister said that the web application is helping the ministry in triaging patients and assessing an individual’s risks allowing a quicker swab test.

The minister encouraged the public to use the web application, especially those who came back to Brunei before the mandatory self-isolation was announced. The self-assessment is recommended for those with symptoms, those that may be in contact with positive cases and those who are unsure.

“The more you use it, the smarter the application will become,” said the minister.
