Eighty trainees completed the 48th Squad Male Firefighters Basic Course 2019/2020 at the marching field of the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) Headquarters at Jalan Airport Lama in Berakas last Friday.
Five trainees were awarded at the completion ceremony, namely – Male Firefighter Trainee 1362 Muhamad Faiz Farhan bin Kamat (Best in Theory), Male Firefighter Trainee 1364 Mohamad Efiezul Haqim bin Murah (Best in Practical), Male Firefighter Trainee 1381 Muhammad Haazim Is’ad bin Mohammad Jeff Azlan (Best in Physical Training), Male Firefighter Trainee 1366 Mohammad Nurjad bin Abdul Aziz (Best in Overall) and Senior Firefighter 1011 Mohammad Fakhrul Anwar bin Haji Bakri (Best Trainer throughout the course).
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Security and Welfare) at the Ministry of Home Affairs and guest of honour Ajman bin Haji Meludin presented the certificates and awards.
Department heads from the Ministry of Home Affairs; Acting Director of FRD Lim Hock Guan; FRD senior officers, officers, personnel and staff; as well as guests attended.
Trainees were taught on theory and practical fire courses, which were divided into four main modules – fire engineering and science, fire management, fire safety and fire operations strategies.
As a step towards supporting the vision and mission of the Fire and Rescue Training Centre, in line with the FRD Strategic Plan, course participants were also exposed to basic first aid training courses, basic computer skills courses and basic high building rescue – including basic firefighting training course to eliminate airplane fires at the Airport Fire Service Training and Development Unit.
Recruiters also participated in other activities throughout the programme, including religious education and briefings by the Narcotics Control Bureau, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Islamic Da’wah Centre and the Health Promotion Centre. This enlightened them to the laws of the country.
They also participated in a blood donation drive for the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital Blood Bank.
