61 semi-finalists battle for top spot

Participants competed in the semi-finals of the Musabaqah Al-Quran Memorisation and its Understanding at Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday. A total of 61 semi-finalists will battle it out from March 3-5.

Participants of each category are required to memorise a number of verses from Al-Quran.

The competition is split into five categories. Category A is open to participants aged 13 below, Category B is open to participants aged 14 and above, Category C is open to participants who have never received the Brunei Darussalam Tasmie’ Al-Quran Memorisation Test Allowance, Category D is open to participants who have not received the Brunei Darussalam Tasmie’ Al-Quran Memorisation Test Allowance for the 30 Juzuks category, and Category E is open to participants who have not been champions three years in a row in the 30 Juzuks memorisation category.

The competition is one of the annual projects organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs through the MABIMS Al-Quran Studies and Dissemination Centre to enliven Islamic holidays and as part of the annually held national Nuzul Al-Quran celebration ceremony.
