Scouts discuss 2020 plans at special meeting

The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) through its Cub Scouts Section held a special meeting for Scouts Leaders and Assistant Scouts Leaders of the Cub Scouts Pack from government and private primary schools nationwide at the Conference Room, PPNBD Headquarters, Jalan Gadong recently.

Scouts Chief Commissioner Haji Badar bin Haji Ali welcomed attendees.

The annual meeting provided an overview of the activities and training for the Cub Scouts members throughout 2020 as well as an agenda on team registration and membership.

Headquarters Scout Commissioner for the Cub Scout Section Hajah Noraini binti Haji Saidi and the Programme Commissioner Junaidi bin Haji Hussin were also present.

Cub Scouts Leader of the Orang Kaya Besar Imas Primary School Hajah Noraini binti Haji Saidi provided information on the activities and training for the Cub Scouts Section Leaders and Assistant Leaders.

Some 25 Assistant District Scout Commissioners for the Cub Scouts Section, Cub Scouts Leaders and Cub Scouts Assistant Leaders from 12 government and private primary schools comprising of Orang Kaya Besar Imas Primary School in Subok, Pulaie Primary School, Anggerek Desa Primary School, Sungai Tali Primary School in Belait, Lumut Primary School in Belait, Sultan Hashim Primary School in Temburong, Sinaran Mas Primary School, Stella School, STJ PGGMB School Lambak Kanan, DES School, STJ PGGMB School Kuala Belait and the Kuala Belait Open Scout Team attended.

The largest event to take place in Brunei Darussalam is the 1st ASEAN Cubboree which will be held on December 1 to 6, 2020, where participation will include members of the ASEAN Cub Scouts; a ‘Scouts Go Solar’ course for Leaders and Assistant Leaders, which is a centralised skills training for Cub Scout members; Sixer’s Leadership Course; Fun Sport for Cub Scouts; World Children Day; and other activities.

Hajah Noraini said the Cub Scout Section has reached 104 years since its establishment in 1916 by Lieutenant General Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell or Lord Baden Powell of Gilwell, also known as the World Scout Founder in England, nine years after the Scouts movement was established on August 1, 1907, at Brownsea Island, England.
