The Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) assisted 70 Anthony Abell College, Seria students who needed help in acquiring sports uniforms and shoes.

MKM President Mohd Yusof bin Halim presented a cheque of BND3,890 to Deputy Principal Nor Azah binti Haji Marmin.

MKM assisted needy students from the college earlier this year in their ‘Back to School’ project. They were informed that many students were in need of assistance, especially sports uniforms and shoes.

“While most of the money will be used to purchase sports uniforms and shoes for the students, a portion will be spent to buy adult diapers for one special student, Mohd Danial bin Nordin,” said Nor Azah.

Mohd Danial is a wheelchair bound Year 9 student. He was born paralysed from the waist down and has no control of his bowels and must wear diapers.

He and his younger sibling are raised by their mother.

He receives five boxes of adult diapers per month from the hospital. “I am grateful for the adult diapers. My family is not able to afford them. Sometimes my teachers and friends help purchase the additional diapers,” Mohd Danial said. He hopes to complete tertiary education and be a contributing member of society.

MKM is a registered society in Brunei Darussalam and relies on public donations to carry out its charitable projects and welcomes all donations.
