Kota Ranger FC will mount a challenge in all fronts this season as they prepare for their opening fixture in the much-anticipated Brunei Super League game against Setia Perdana at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex this Sunday.

In conjunction of the upcoming season which kicks off this Friday, the club held a contract agreement signing ceremony with players and members of the management at the Boomerang Hall of Badi’ah Hotel in Batu Satu last night.

Kota Ranger will hope to repeat its history of returning to the continental scene having played competitively at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) level six times.

The club owner Abdul Razak bin Haji Ibrahim highlighted the club’s experience in Hong Kong, Philippines, twice in Indonesia in Bandung and Solo and once in Kedah in Malaysia.

The club, which was founded in 1978, enjoyed a lengthy period of dominance whereby they scooped every available trophy in Brunei before the establishment of DPMM FC and AH United with the exception of MS ABDB once.

Kota Ranger have also emerged victorious in the Borneo Cup and their trophy can be found at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium as well as youth trophies.

The club owner also said that they have enjoyed some success with the FA Cup in recent memory last year before continuing the club’s hopes of representing the country.

He advised members of the management and players to work hard and stay together adding the importance of training in football.

Abdul Razak said that the club has roped in an experienced head coach in Darus bin Tanjung and a goalkeeping coach in Ibrahim Abu Bakar. With their services, he believes that his team can win one of the two trophies on offer this year to add to their triumph in the Sumbangsih Cup recently.

Touching on the mental aspect of the player, he said that players must be in a good mood to be able to play and must be prepared before a game adding that players should not skip training unless they have a valid reason.

As the club look to wrestle the crown from reigning holders MS ABDB, they have strengthened with the addition of a trio of import players and five youth players.

Adi Said, whose hat-trick downed MS ABDB in the Sumbangsih Cup, has also joined the club.
