Joint op detects several offences

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in collaboration with law enforcement agencies from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) and the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) conducted a joint operation at two separate locations at Jalan Lamunin and Jalan Pengkalan Mau on February 20.

NCB led 67 officers from the agencies.

NCB apprehended two males and a female on suspicion of drug offences under Section 6(b) of the Misuse Drug Act (MDA), Chapter 27 for the consumption of controlled drugs that carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine of BND20,000 or both. One male suspect was caught under Section 6(a) of MDA, Chapter 27 for the possession of controlled drugs that carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine of BND20,000 or both.

The RBPF recorded 12 offences for the violation of the Road Traffic Act (RTA), RCED had four violations under the Customs Act and as for INRD, two offences were found under the Immigrations Act.

NCB reminded the public that drug offences are serious and any involvement may carry capital punishment under the MDA, Chapter 27 and advised the public to abide by the law.
