The first round of HECAS 2020 online applications to local Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the Brunei Government Overseas Scholarship under Scholarship Section at the Ministry of Education (MoE) for the 2020/2021 academic year will commence at 8.30am on February 3 and close at 10am on February 22.
The programme levels on offer are Level 5 Diploma, Higher National Diploma and First Degree programmes. Those applying to local HEIs are allowed to select up to four programmes, while those applying for an Overseas Scholarship under the MoE’s Scholarship Section are only allowed to select one. Overseas Scholarship applicants must also select at least one programme offered by local HEIs and up to five programmes.
All applicants may select up to two programmes from each local HEIs. HECAS applicants are advised to submit relevant hard copies, including a printed HECAS form to the institutions before the closing date.
The HECAS online application is open for holders of valid Brunei issued identity card. HECAS does not process the applications of government servants applying for in-service training, or foreign applicants who do not have a valid Brunei issued identity card.
Applicants are allowed to use their predicted results to apply to local universities (Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Universiti Teknologi Brunei and Politeknik Brunei) or for the Overseas Scholarship. They will receive a conditional offer upon meeting the entry requirement set by the institution concerned.
After registering with HECAS, applicants are required to make payments at counters located in the MoE’s Department of Administration and Services, the Tutong Sixth Form Centre, Sayyidina Ali Secondary School and Sultan Hassan Secondary School.
