DPMM FC will have to wait for the start of the Singapore Premier League season after their opening match against Lion City Sailors at the Bishan Stadium this Saturday was postponed due to a precautionary travel restriction in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) announced the postponement of four games, three of which involve the defending champions DPMM FC, who did not feature in the curtain-raiser AIA Community Shield earlier this season due to similar reasons.
The ‘Gegar Gegar’ men will begin their title defence a week late against Tampines Rovers FC at home at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on March 6.
The Lion City Sailors game has been moved to April 15, 10 days after DPMM FC play their first away match of the season against Hougang United.
DPMM FC have been scheduled to play Albirex Niigata (S) at the Jurong East Stadium on March 13 but the match has been moved a day later at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
The Brunei-based outfit will take on Young Lions on June 17 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium instead of the initial meeting on March 18.
The re-scheduling of fixtures also affected Tanjong Pagar United FC and Albirex Niigata (S) whose meeting at the Jurong East Stadium on March 18 has also been postponed.
