Acting Director of Arts and Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Haji Mohd Abdoh bin Haji Awang Damit as the Head of Creative Team of the 36th National Day celebration said this year’s National Day performance will be different from previous celebrations.
The number of teams and participants for the National Day parade has also increased. “The concept covers keceriaan, kemajuan dan kehadapan (joy, progress and future direction). We are preparing the younger generation for the Brunei Vision 2035 so the performance will be more joyful, dynamic and creative and involve the youth such as youth associations and choreographers.
“There will be musical performances and a performance on the journey towards independence, spirit of patriotism, love to the monarch and infrastructure development,” he said at a media briefing.
“This year, we included ideas from the youth,” he added. The theme for this year ‘Menjayakan Wawasan Negara’ is maintained and focusses on achieving Brunei Vision 2035 highlighting the importance of citizens and residents as well as bodies in national development play their roles in making the vision a reality. One hundred and sixty-one contingents and 26,534 participants will participate in the traditional march-past for the 36th National Day parade on February 23.
They will be divided into 15 clusters: National Security, the Bestari Community, Civil Servants, Socio-Economy, Post-Secondary Education, Secondary Education, Private Education, Mosque Committees, Professional Associations, Youth Movements, Women Movements, Sports Associations, Public Associations, General Communities and Visionary Generation Teams. The Brunei contingent in the recent 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games is also expected to take part.
