Companies, individuals fined for littering

Three individuals and four companies who dumped rubbish and threw cigarette butts in Gadong, Batu Satu, Kiarong and Subok areas were slapped with compound fines by personnel of the Law Enforcement Unit of the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department for violations of the Minor Offences Act Chapter 30 Section 12(1)(a)(d) and (F)(ii).

Olivcros Angelo from the Philippines, Mohammad Omar Faraque from Bangladesh and Elfan from Indonesia were fined BND100 each.

HBM Laundry and Clean Service, Sai Nath Sdn Bhd, Seri Damai Auto Part and D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd were fined BND300 each.

Indonesian Saefrudin was fined BND100 and Syarikat Tena Gandajuta Sdn Bhd was fined BND500 for violation of Minor Offences Act Chapter 30 section 12 (1)(A) and 12(1)(f)(ii) by throwing rubbish and cigarette butts in Gadong during Ops  Bersih Sepadu.

The offenders were given seven days to settle the fines. Failing to do so will result in the matter being brought to court.

If found guilty, each accused will be handed a further BND1,000 fine or one month’s imprisonment.

A fine of BND3,000 or imprisonment of not more than three months will be levied for subsequent offences.
