Yayasan lends a helping hand to fire victims

In line with the establishment of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah to contribute to the welfare of the local community, nine families received donations amounting to BND79,600 yesterday.

The families were those involved in the fire tragedy that occurred on Wednesday morning at Kampong Bendahara Lama, at the iconic Kampong Ayer in the capital.

On hand to present the donation was Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud in his capacity as the Yayasan Board of Directors member and Chairman of Yayasan Aid Review Committee.

At the ceremony, the Ministry of Education also donated in the form of school necessities to affected schoolchildren, which was presented by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman. Also present at the ceremony was Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak in her capacity as the Acting Managing Director of Yayasan.

The donation was received by heads of families of the affected fire victims namely Hasimah binti Abdul Rahman, Norhafizah binti Haji Jaini, Haji Daud bin Haji Momin, Abdullah Chik bin Abdullah, Haji Mohd Jefry bin Haji Mohd Ali, Abdul Majeed bin Moosa, Haji Tahir bin Salleh, Osli bin Omar and Haji Mohamed Azmi bin Haji Nohi.
