The foundation laying ceremony to construct 21 houses for the underprivileged under Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah’s Housing Scheme was held yesterday.
This is in line with the establishment of Yayasan to help the people while also looking into the care and concern of their basic needs, particularly in providing shelter.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud in his capacity as a member of Yayasan Board of Directors and Chairman of the Yayasan Assistance Reviewing Committee officiated the foundation laying ceremony.
The event took place at Kampong Katimahar, Jalan Lugu where a house for Siti Asmah binti Abdul Kadir will be built. The foundation laying ceremony marked the construction of other houses in the Brunei-Muara and Tutong districts.
Syarikat Noracon Sdn Bhd will build all 21 houses (11 in the Brunei-Muara District and 10 in the Tutong District). Work is expected to be completed by April.
Modern architecture will be used to build the houses. This is in line with the current technology which aims at constructing low-cost houses which can be completed in a short-period.
Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak in her capacity as the Acting Managing Director of Yayasan and committee members of the Yayasan Assistance Reviewing Committee were also present at the ceremony.
