Treat awaits music, poetry lovers at The Core Theatre

Ad Meliora: An Evening of Latin Music and Poetry is to be held on January 31 and February 1 at The Core Theatre of The Core Residential College.

This was announced during a press conference at The Core, Universiti Brunei Darussalam yesterday.

Organised by Silhouette Entertainment, the event will see seven songs from original soundtracks and top hit numbers, two instrumental performances, four poems and five original songs and three original poems composed and arranged by Silhouette Entertainment.

According to Event Coordinator of Silhouette Entertainment Hajah Sorianasalwa binti Haji Mornie, Ad Meliora is a Latin expression meaning ‘Towards Better’.

She shared that in September 2019, Silhouette Entertainment gathered a team of musicians, singers and poetry readers to explore a literary and music genre that Bruneian audience might not have paid attention to before.

She underlined that Ad Meliora is chosen as the title of the event in order to begin 2020 optimistically.

It is also to inspire the audience by sharing songs and poems that can elevate one’s self-esteem and boost confidence to take on challenges that 2020 might bring.

The event is hoped to be a way to instil an appreciation of music and poetry genre that have become one of the biggest influence in many countries today including Brunei Darussalam.

Among the songs to be showcased are Ai Mi Morena by Los Lobos and Desperado by Antonio Banderas, Diamond Ring by Bon Jovi, La Camisa Negra by Juanes, Love in Alhambra, Eliena, and Ad Meliora.

Among the poems are As One Listens to the Rain by Octavia Paz and Remorse by Jorge Luis Borges.
