Brunei’s largest celebration of Malaysian cuisine and culture is back! Royal Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd (RBC) in association with Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board is hosting the annual Malaysia Food Festival at Horizons Seafood Restaurant from January 14-21, with the theme, ‘Citarasa Malaysia’.
The Food Festival was launched by guest of honour, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, as well as Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia Datuk Mohamaddin bin Ketapi.
Also present during the launching event were RBC Board of Directors members, representatives of Malaysian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board and invited guests.
General Manager of RBC Haji Jeff Hadiman bin Dato Paduka Haji Danial said it is an honour to hold the festival when Brunei Darussalam is hosting the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2020 where Brunei’s tourism and service industry is on full show for ASEAN and beyond.
“The Malaysian Food Festival is one of our most popular food festivals and has always received positive response from the public,” he said. Haji Jeff Hadiman said Horizons Seafood Restaurant will serve as a one-stop promotion that hopes to touch upon the vast cuisines within the Malaysian menu, as not just a culinary experience, but also a cultural one.
This year, Horizons Seafood Restaurant invites guests to enjoy a spread of authentic Malay fares during dinner buffet and lunch. With dishes curated by Horizons’ Malaysian chef, the restaurant hopes to offer true Malaysian food for Bruneians. The food festival will feature Roti Canai, Penang Rojak, Nyonya Curry Laksa, Penang Fried Kwey Teow, Kambing Bakar, Ayam Percik, Nasi Lemak Sambal Sotong, the irresistible Teh Tarik, Ais Kacang, Ondeh Ondeh and more throughout the festival’s dinner buffet.
Tourism Malaysia has flown in cultural dancers from Malaysia to perform during the first two days of the food festival. The food festival is also held on par with the Malaysian Tourism campaign, Visit Malaysia 2020.
