Thai military official pays courtesy calls

The Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) received a visit from Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army General Apirat Kongsompong at the RBLF Headquarters, Berakas Garrison as part of his two-day introductory visit to Brunei Darussalam which concludes today.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army was received by Commander of the RBLF Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Khairul Hamed bin Haji Lampoh followed by the inspection of the guard of honour mounted by the personnel of First Battalion RBLF.

General Apirat Kongsompong proceeded to call on the Commander of the RBLF. Both sides reaffirmed the close cooperation between the two land forces and discussed avenues to strengthen military cooperation.

General Apirat Kongsompong had courtesy calls with Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud.

Both sides expressed satisfaction on the flourishing bilateral defence relations, and expressed pleasure with the ongoing bilateral cooperation in military-related activities at the bilateral level.

They were also pleased with the continued engagement at the multilateral level through various avenues, particularly the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and the ADMM-Plus frameworks.

An official dinner hosted by the Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force was also held at the Officers’ Mess, Berakas Garrison. Senior officers and officers of the RBLF attended.

General Apirat Kongsompong was appointed as Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army on October 1, 2018.
